Throwing a BBQ this 4th of July? We got you. We bet you're already on top of planning for the hamburgers, summery side dishes, and drinks you're going to be serving, but we've got one additional tip for guaranteeing your 4th of July party is a success: Don't forget the appetizers! We've all been there, spending too much time on the main event while your hungry guests arrive. Having nothing to share with them until you get the outdoor grill heated up is a recipe for disaster, trust us. You could just put out a bag of chips and store-bought dip, but to truly impress, go homemade. Check out our list of 60 Fourth of July appetizers for inspiration.

4th of July is just like any other party, which means pulling out our starter secret weapon: dips! We're pretty darn proud of all the dips we've created over the years, and have highlighted some of our summertime favorites here. Check out our 4th of July brie, our buffalo chicken dip, or our July 4th s'mores dip. What goes best with dip? That'd be salsa. Try our blueberry salsa, our grilled corn salsa, or our mango salsa. Make sure to put out a variety of breads, crackers, chips and veggies (for real, people always love the veggies) for serving.

Our other favorite style of appetizer? Bite-size ones! Particularly during a BBQ where there might not be a ton of seating, handheld apps are hugely appreciated. Try some on skewers, like our melon prosciutto skewers, our tomato gnocchi kebabs, or our grilled chicken kebabs, or just turn your favorites tiny, like in our cheeseburger tot sliders (the tots are the buns), our bruschetta (yknow, tiny toast), or our pigs in a blanket.

If all else fails, wrap a vegetable in bacon. We swear, it's the lowest effort, highest reward app there is. Try our bacon-wrapped jalapeño poppers, our bacon zucchini fries, or our bacon wrapped pickles.

Classic Buffalo Wings

Leave fried wings to the pub. You can still get perfect crispness at home in your oven. The key is putting the wings on a wire rack inside of a rimmed baking sheet. The rack allows air to circulate underneath the wings and allows for even cooking.

The gnocchi paired with blistered grilled tomatoes and tender red onion make for a perfect summer snack. They come together in minutes and if you are really pressed for time you can skip the homemade salsa verde and opt for basil. (Though we promise it's worth making.)
